PTSL has operated with an arbitration policy for many years, but we are eager to revise our practices and transform the old process into a policy and procedure deeply rooted in anti-oppressive principles and restorative justice. We are looking for one or two individuals who envision a new form of conflict resolution within the league to spearhead the development and implementation of the policy with the support of the PTSL Board and Collective.
This role is for you if:
- You have a working knowledge of both restorative justice principles and current EDIA best practices
- You are eager to be at the forefront of building the league’s capacity to be an anti-oppressive space
- The idea of envisioning a restorative justice model for on-field issues that arise is both exciting and empowering
- You want to contribute to the league in a substantial way, but on a project-based basis with a medium level of commitment during the season
We endeavour to provide PTSL with a Collective that is representative of our members – all PTSL players of all intersectional identities are welcome on our leadership team. We will give preference to those who have played at least one season in PTSL, BIPOC individuals, and any members who have noticeably demonstrated the values of the league both on and off the field. Most importantly we’re looking for members who exemplify league values of inclusion, collaboration, willingness to both learn and teach others, and creating a welcoming space for all members of our community, regardless of athletic ability or skill.
Collective members meet once a month for 2-3 hours. Members are asked to attend a minimum of 75% (9) of these meetings to support decision-making within the league. If you would like to take on one of the roles above but are unable to commit to monthly meetings, please let us know and we are happy to accommodate and find a version of the role that will work for us all!
